Journey Through Education and Early Career

After attending Indiana University’s Kelley School of Business, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in accounting and finance, David Hanfland went on to further his education at the University of Chicago, earning an MBA. Those years were marked not just by academic achievement, but also by the development of personal and professional relationships that would last a lifetime. His early professional path began as an auditor, but soon he found himself drawn to consulting for the challenge it provided and the opportunity to make a broad impact.

Major Achievements in Consulting

David Hanfland’s consulting career took off at Huron Consulting Group, where he climbed the ranks to become a managing director. However, it was his long tenure at Kearney, a global consulting powerhouse, where he truly made his mark. For over 25 years, he played key roles, including head of the Americas region, global vice-chair for strategy and corporate development, and leader of the global health practice.

Hanfland was instrumental in strengthening Kearney’s digital and analytics capabilities, often driving major growth through smart hiring and strategic mergers.

Colleagues recall him as both a strategic thinker and a patient mentor, keen to empower the people around him. He also contributed as a member of Kearney’s board of directors, helping guide the firm through times of transformation and market change. His efforts consistently led to improved performance for clients, as well as a culture of continuous improvement within the firm.

Leadership at Point B

In March 2025, David Hanfland took on a new challenge as the CEO of Point B, a Seattle-based management consulting firm. Point B is known for its strong customer relationships and innovation across fields like digital transformation, enterprise technology, and organizational effectiveness. Under Hanfland’s guidance, the firm aims to build even further on its three-decade legacy of supporting clients and the communities they serve. Service and Community Involvement

Hanfland’s leadership extends beyond the office walls. He has been very active in the Chicago community, where he and his family have made their home. For over a decade, he has contributed his guidance to the Executives’ Club of Chicago, serving as both a board member and the board’s second vice-chair.

In July 2025, he became the Chair of the Board of Directors for the Executives’ Club of Chicago. In this position, he aims to empower other leaders across industries and promote business advancement and community engagement throughout the city and beyond. He also remains connected to Indiana University’s Kelley School of Business through more than twenty years of service on the Dean’s Advisory Council, nurturing the next generation of business leaders.
