A major leadership change is underway at Johns Manville as the company prepares for its next chapter. The Berkshire Hathaway-owned manufacturer has announced that John Vasuta will become the company’s new President and Chief Executive Officer beginning August 1, 2026. He will succeed Bob Wamboldt, who is retiring after more than two decades with the company.

The announcement came directly from Johns Manville through its official company release. The transition marks one of the most important leadership moves for the building and industrial materials manufacturer in recent years.

John Vasuta to Lead the Company

John Vasuta currently serves as President of Johns Manville’s Engineered Products business. He joined the company in 2019 and has helped lead one of its major operating divisions. Before joining Johns Manville, Vasuta held several senior leadership positions at Bridgestone Corporation. His previous roles included President of Firestone Building Products International and Senior Vice President of Global Sales, Marketing, and Operations.

According to the company, Vasuta brings extensive experience in manufacturing, industrial operations, and customer-focused leadership.

Mary Rhinehart, Chair of Johns Manville, said the company believes Vasuta is the right leader to guide the business into the future. She highlighted his leadership experience, strong customer relationships, and understanding of the company’s operations.

Vasuta also serves on the Board of Directors of EJ, a company that manufactures infrastructure access products for utility and telecommunications systems. In the official announcement, Vasuta said he feels honored to lead Johns Manville and continue working with employees, customers, and business partners across the company’s global operations.

Bob Wamboldt Retires After More Than 20 Years

Outgoing CEO Bob Wamboldt is retiring after a long career at Johns Manville. He joined the company in 2003 and later led each of its three major business divisions, including Engineered Products, Roofing Systems, and Insulation Systems.

Wamboldt became President and CEO in 2020. During his leadership, the company continued operating across its core insulation, roofing, and engineered materials businesses. Johns Manville thanked Wamboldt for his years of leadership and contribution to the company.

A Global Manufacturing Company

Founded in 1858, Johns Manville is one of the world’s well-known manufacturers of building and specialty materials. The company produces commercial roofing systems, insulation products, and engineered materials used in residential, commercial, and industrial markets. Johns Manville operates as a Berkshire Hathaway company and is headquartered in Denver, Colorado.

According to the company, it generates more than $4 billion in annual sales and employs nearly 8,000 people across 43 locations in North America and Europe. The appointment of John Vasuta signals a leadership transition built on continuity and long-term industry experience as Johns Manville moves forward with its next phase of operations and growth.
